Professional Pictures
We got your pictures back this week. We finally had some professional pictures made when you were three (almost four) months old. We had them done at Sears. We did six different poses, but I only picked out two to get prints of.
You looked cute in them, but they weren't the best representation of you. I'll probably get your picture made again at six months.
I have to figure out now how to divvy up the pictures. I'm sure your Granddaddy Stroud would be happy if I just handed him the whole package, but I do have other relatives to think about.

Rollover
You rolled over today! You had been kind of rolling over for a few weeks, but basically all you would do is turn to your side and rest on your arm. You just couldn't seem to figure out what to do with that arm. Today you figured it out. I kept thinking that you would be late to rollover because I didn't put you on your belly enough, but you proved me wrong.
You really amazed me when I saw you rollover, get your pacifier in your mouth and roll back over. That's my smart boy!

Alli's Birthday
You went to your cousin Alli's first birthday party yesterday. You are still wary of her. She's a little loud for you at this time and you really don't like sudden loud noises right now. I think once you get a little older she will be one of your favorite playmates. She will get a little quieter and you will grow to like loud noises. You'll meet in the middle. You two are only about seven months apart, but I think Alli will end up being a grade ahead of you when you both start school.

Joel Babble
I recorded some of your babbling.
You sound so adorable! I need to record you some more. I had to record you for over four minutes to get that small bit of uninterrupted babble! You would talk and talk and talk when I wasn't recording, but as soon as I started recording you shut up. You are definitely your daddy's son!

Six Flags
You went to Six Flags this past weekend with your great aunt and uncle and your cousins. You did very well. There was not much for you to do there and I was going to let you stay home with Daddy, but my aunt wanted me to bring you so she would have an excuse not to ride the roller coasters. I really hope you like to ride roller coasters when you are bigger.
You seemed to enjoy riding around in your stroller and looking at all the sights. You took some very long naps too. I think our aunt really enjoyed spending time with you. When you get older you will have to ask your cousin Anton about his obsession with your diaper changes.
Even though there wasn't much for you to do, I was glad to spend the day with you and to let my family spend some more time with you also.

Pants-head Joel
Oh Joel, what's your daddy doing to you? We had such a good laugh looking at you with your pants on your head. You looked like a little emperor or something.
Do you realize your head is the same size as your waist? I've always said you have a big head like your daddy!
I think what was most funny was the serious look you had on your face even with your pants on your head. Well, you're only a baby once! Or maybe that should be we're only parents to baby Joel once. Anyway, you gave us a good laugh.

Buford Church Service
After Chuck E. Cheese's we all went to the Wednesday night service at Buford Church of Christ. You were good, but you distracted a lot of people from the lesson by handing out bunches of smiles over my shoulder during the service. Once the service was over lots of people who knew you from camp came over to say hello. You also got visits from new people too. You were all to happy to hand out smiles to everyone. I was very glad that you were in such a good mood.

Chuck E. Cheese's
We took you to Chuck E. Cheese's with Mommy's family today. In the picture that is your cousin Julianna in the "car" and you with Granny Mary in the corner. It was your first trip to this place. I think you really liked all the lights and moving objects. As for Mommy and Daddy, the pizza was much better than we expected. You got to visit with all of Mommy's family while you were there also. Chuck E. Cheese's has this system of stamping all the parents and children with a number and parents can only leave with children that match their number. For babies you don't get a stamp on your arm, like parents and older kids do, you get a stamped sticker that we put on your carrier. Where by some strange fluke you managed to get that sticker stuck on your foot. When your Granny Mary saw that, being the good granny she is, she pulled that bad old sticker off of you and crumpled it up to be thrown away. Well, when you, Mommy and Daddy went to leave we realized that you didn't have your sticker. I kept wondering "Are they not going to let me leave with my kid?!" Thankfully I went back to where we were all sitting and your Granny Mary found the sticker. I was still a little worked up as I talked to the lady at the gate where they checked the stamps. Daddy said I looked guilty like I was stealing you.

Stone Mountain
We took you to Stone Mountain this past Saturday with a church group. You climbed the mountain with us. You did a lot better than Mommy or Daddy! You were in a front carrier with Daddy. Your daddy did really well even with an extra 15 pounds strapped to him. It rained on you a little and you didn't even care.
After we went up and down the mountain you were very tired. You don't fall asleep sitting up very often, but you sure did then. You looked adorable all conked out in the little front carrier.
Later we watched the laser show on the lawn in front of the part of the mountain that has the carving. You absolutely LOVED the laser show. You were mesmerized! Mommy and Daddy didn't care for the laser show, but we were glad that you enjoyed it.
Love,
Mommy

Four Month Doctor Appointment
Dear Joel,
We had your four month doctor appointment this past Friday. You had to get a bunch of shots, but all in all, I think you took it well. You weighed 15 pounds 13 ounces, you were 25 1/4 inches tall and your head circumference was 43 centimeters. You were in the 50th percentile for everything except your head. There you were in the 75th percentile (you got a big head like your dad!). Other than your big head, you are just perfect. And, really, I like your big head.
Love,
Mommy

Camp
Dear Joel,
You're only three months old and you already spent a week out at camp! I can't believe how good you were. You let anyone that wanted to hold you and you even smiled at most people. You were a big flirt! You slept in the nurse's cabin one night and you spent two nights in two different cabins (Cheyenne and Creek) with Jennifer, Lacey, Tina and Julie. All the campers loved you. You won an award for being the littlest boy camper. Your daddy was so excited to show you off. I can't wait until you are old enough to be a camper. Your daddy and I both have very fond memories of going to camp when we were little. I can't wait for you to have the same kind of fond memories.
Lots of love,
Your Mommy
