Camp Inagehi

Well, you made it through another year at camp. You're a regular Camp Inagehi veteran! I guess it's only appropriate for you to have your picture (right) with David who is a serious Camp Inagehi veteran. David attends every week every summer at Camp Inagehi.

Daddy was so proud to walk around with you everywhere. You were quite a trooper. Everyone was so impressed with how well you did at camp. You took everything in stride. There were lots of "mommies" at camp to help watch you. I think your favorite thing this year was swim time. One day you stayed at the pool for two and a half hours! The campers only get 50 minutes to swim. You're so independent and fearless. I can't imagine how you will be when you're actually old enough to be a real camper.

Braves Game

For Daddy's birthday Granny Stroud was able to get him front row Braves tickets. We were right behind home plate! It rained a little, but in your usual fashion, you loved the rain!

Professional Haircut

You got your first professional haircut today. We went with Granddaddy Stroud to get his haircut and we decided to get yours cut too. Unfortunately and quite out of character for you, you cried. You took it for a little while, but when you had had enough, you had had enough. So, you're normal!

Clingman's Dome

Daddy had the great idea to actually go see the mountains while we were in Pigeon Forge. He took all of us to Clingman's Dome. It was warm enough at our hotel to wear shorts, but when we got to the mountain top there was snow. We were able to drive most of the way up, but for the last trek to the top we had to walk. That is, Mommy and Daddy had to walk. You got to ride in your stroller! I felt so out of shape hiking up that mountain! Daddy did most of the stroller pushing. The top of the mountain was so windy. You loved it!

Aquarium

While we were in Pigeon Forge we also visited Ripley's Aquarium. I think this time (as opposed to your Zoo Atlanta trip) you actually got into looking at the animals. However, people watching still topped the list.

Dollywood

We were worried that there wouldn't be anything for someone your size to do at Dollywood, but we did manage to find a place for you to play also. I think you got just as much thrill out of the slide as we did from the roller-coasters!

Pigeon Forge Trip

We went lots of places while we were in Pigeon Forge with Papa and Nana, but I think you loved the pool the most! Granny Mary loved taking you swimming.

Visit to USS Alabama

We visited the USS Alabama during our trip to see the Dead Sea Scrolls in Alabama. Daddy and I had a great time looking around the ship and submarine. I think you mainly enjoyed the windy weather!

Visit to Zoo

You went to the zoo today. We saw all sorts of animals. You even got to pet a few! However, I think your favorite part of the day wasn't seeing all the animals, but watching all the other kids.

Jekyll Island

We went to Jekyll Island with Grandaddy and Granny Stroud. It was very windy and you loved the wind. We would stand outside in the wind with you and you would just laugh and laugh. We went to lots of restaurants and did lots of driving, but you were very good. You got to spend a bunch of time with Granny and Grandaddy Stroud. They loved every minute of it.

Meeting Munson

You got to meet Larry Munson, the voice of the Georgia Bulldogs. He had a signing at Sports Addiction. I didn't really care about getting anything signed, I just wanted to get your picture taken with him. While I was standing in line, though, I figured I should get him to sign something. I had an extra UGA onesie with me in case you got the outfit you were wearing "dirty" and I decided I would have him sign that. I didn't really have anything else with me and I didn't want to buy anything just for him to sign. Munson gave me the strangest look when I gave him a baby's onesie to sign, but he signed it. He warmed up, however, when I handed you over for a picture. Vince Dooley was also there. Apparently I was remiss in not getting your picture with him also (as I've since found out from various UGA fans). The way the signing was setup we had to stand in line and go past Vince Dooley to get to Larry Munson. When the line moved so that we were in front of Dooley I tried to make polite small talk to avoid drawing attention to the fact that I wasn't here to see him, but it eventually came out that we were only there to see Munson. You see, you had to have a purchased ticket to get an autograph and I thought it would be rude to ask for a picture without a ticket. Dooley was gracious and everyone thought you were very handsome in your UGA outfit.

Visit with Grandparents

You went to visit your grandparents on Mommy's side. They were all very excited to see you. Everyone raved about how good you were. We didn't get to see your Aunt Jennifer, Uncle Jason or Cousin Julianna, but hopefully we will see them soon. Papa gave you applesauce for the first time while you were there. I think the jury is still out on whether or not you like it. You also got taken shopping while you were there. We found lots of cute clothes for you. Everyone was sad to see you go, but your Daddy missed you and Mommy very much. So, we decided we would come home a little early. Daddy was very glad to see you.

Visit to UGA

Well, we didn't get to see Uga like we thought, but we had a good time at UGA. We did some shopping, which was lots of fun for mommy and then we walked around the UGA campus. It was hard for me to get some good pictures of you, because it was just you and me, but I was determined to get some good UGA themed pictures. Eventually we took a break on the lawn in front of the Journalism building. I got some pretty good pictures of you there. Daddy didn't think much of them, because he said we could have taken pictures of you on our lawn, but you and I know that they were on a UGA lawn and that's what's important.

Six Flags

You went to Six Flags this past weekend with your great aunt and uncle and your cousins. You did very well. There was not much for you to do there and I was going to let you stay home with Daddy, but my aunt wanted me to bring you so she would have an excuse not to ride the roller coasters. I really hope you like to ride roller coasters when you are bigger.

You seemed to enjoy riding around in your stroller and looking at all the sights. You took some very long naps too. I think our aunt really enjoyed spending time with you. When you get older you will have to ask your cousin Anton about his obsession with your diaper changes.

Even though there wasn't much for you to do, I was glad to spend the day with you and to let my family spend some more time with you also.

Buford Church Service

After Chuck E. Cheese's we all went to the Wednesday night service at Buford Church of Christ. You were good, but you distracted a lot of people from the lesson by handing out bunches of smiles over my shoulder during the service. Once the service was over lots of people who knew you from camp came over to say hello. You also got visits from new people too. You were all to happy to hand out smiles to everyone. I was very glad that you were in such a good mood.

Chuck E. Cheese's

We took you to Chuck E. Cheese's with Mommy's family today. In the picture that is your cousin Julianna in the "car" and you with Granny Mary in the corner. It was your first trip to this place. I think you really liked all the lights and moving objects. As for Mommy and Daddy, the pizza was much better than we expected. You got to visit with all of Mommy's family while you were there also. Chuck E. Cheese's has this system of stamping all the parents and children with a number and parents can only leave with children that match their number. For babies you don't get a stamp on your arm, like parents and older kids do, you get a stamped sticker that we put on your carrier. Where by some strange fluke you managed to get that sticker stuck on your foot. When your Granny Mary saw that, being the good granny she is, she pulled that bad old sticker off of you and crumpled it up to be thrown away. Well, when you, Mommy and Daddy went to leave we realized that you didn't have your sticker. I kept wondering "Are they not going to let me leave with my kid?!" Thankfully I went back to where we were all sitting and your Granny Mary found the sticker. I was still a little worked up as I talked to the lady at the gate where they checked the stamps. Daddy said I looked guilty like I was stealing you.

Stone Mountain

StoneMtnFamily.jpgWe took you to Stone Mountain this past Saturday with a church group. You climbed the mountain with us. You did a lot better than Mommy or Daddy! You were in a front carrier with Daddy. Your daddy did really well even with an extra 15 pounds strapped to him. It rained on you a little and you didn't even care.

StoneMtnDadSleepingJoel.jpgAfter we went up and down the mountain you were very tired. You don't fall asleep sitting up very often, but you sure did then. You looked adorable all conked out in the little front carrier.

StoneMtnJoelMomMtn.jpgLater we watched the laser show on the lawn in front of the part of the mountain that has the carving. You absolutely LOVED the laser show. You were mesmerized! Mommy and Daddy didn't care for the laser show, but we were glad that you enjoyed it.

Love,
Mommy

Camp

Dear Joel,
You're only three months old and you already spent a week out at camp! I can't believe how good you were. You let anyone that wanted to hold you and you even smiled at most people. You were a big flirt! You slept in the nurse's cabin one night and you spent two nights in two different cabins (Cheyenne and Creek) with Jennifer, Lacey, Tina and Julie. All the campers loved you. You won an award for being the littlest boy camper. Your daddy was so excited to show you off. I can't wait until you are old enough to be a camper. Your daddy and I both have very fond memories of going to camp when we were little. I can't wait for you to have the same kind of fond memories.

Lots of love,
Your Mommy
